Montagu Project Centre Supplies
We accept donations of any of the following items in very good condition: shoes, clothes, bags/backpacks, technology, medical supplies, feminine hygiene products, small toys, school supplies. These items are then shared with those who have need of them.
Leadership Library
We are building a leadership library in the Montagu Project Resource Centre. Contributions of any good titles in this area are appreciated.
Camp Ambassadors Program
Each year, the two South African program delegates who best represent the values of the Montagu Project are given the opportunity to spend two months in the United States acting as Camp Counselor Ambassadors at Center Day Camp in Maine.
Monthly Workshop Series
A monthly workshop series is being launched with a focus on professional readiness and personal development programming.
Global Leadership Scholarship
For those South African delegates that are college bound, we provide assistance through the process of finding bursaries and writing essays. On occasion, there is also a delegate who has the opportunity to study abroad. We assist with those aspirations as well.
Leadership Study Abroad
Most years, a group of undergraduate and graduate USM students travel to Montagu, South Africa as part of a Leadership Study Abroad course. During their time there, they work alongside youth and young adults who have been specially selected by their communities as having leadership potential.
A weeklong workshop takes them through an intensive Appreciative Inquiry based curriculum in which they examine their histories, their similarities and differences, and tools for leadership empowerment. Also interwoven throughout the program is the traditional African philosophy of Ubuntu, the belief that "there exists a common bond between us all, and it is through this bond, through our interaction with our fellow human beings, that we discover our own human qualities."
